Fiesta Party

Fiesta Party Supplies and Decorations
Party Planning
- General Party Planning Schedule
- If you're planning to have live music, such as a Mariachi Band, or hiring a DJ, be sure to reserve these well in advance. The same goes if you're going to have your party at a rented venue.
Party Decorations
- Sombreros and Mexican flags hung on the wall.
- Mexican blankets laid over the backs of sofas and folded over the backs of chairs. If you don't have any of these, use brightly colored sheets, especially red and green, as in the Mexican flag, and also bright blue, orange, bold pink, and yellow.
- Mexican travel posters and Corona beer posters and tin signs. There is a large collection of artistic posters of Mexican people, and some Bullfighting posters. (The search term matador will bring up extra results.)
- Some typical Mexican dishes--referring to the containers, not the food--also add a Mexican touch.
- Click on the party banner above, then on Fiesta Decorations, to find great wall murals and other decorations, such as chili pepper string lights.
- Make large flowers from brightly colored tissue paper. Hang them on the walls or from the ceiling, and place some smaller ones with long pipe cleaner stems in old beer and wine bottles for tabletop decorations.
- For a large, inexpensive decoration, find an old National Geographic with a folded map of Mexico in it. Thrift stores often sell them for 10-25 cents.
- Pinatas make great decorations, as well as a party activity. Click on the banner at the top of the page, and go to the Fiesta Decorations section.
Party Invitations
- If it's an adult party and alcohol will be served, an image of Margarita glasses make a cool invitation.
- For a non-alcohol party theme, sombreros, maracas, and/or serapes are good graphics to use.
- The colors of the Mexican Flag, equal vertical stripes of red, white and green, make an easy invitation.
- Our generic invitation templates can help you in making your own invitations.
Party Food
- Main dishes: Beans and rice, chili con carne, arroz con pollo, chalupas, quesadillas, tamales, tacos, gorditas, burritos, tostadas.
- Side dishes and sauces: Guacamole, nachos, refried beans, salsa, jalapeno peppers, mole sauce, ensalada de fruta (fruit salad).
- Desserts: Flan, churros. And, of course, birthday cake if it's a birthday party!
- Beverages: Fanta, Squirt, Orange Crush, Jarritos.
- Alcoholic beverages: Sangria, Mexican beer, tequila, margaritas, pina coladas.
- Get your guests involved by making the party a food contest. Let them compete for best main dish, best side dish and best dessert. You can either select specific items, or let them fix whatever they want within a given category. Or just have a more casual pot luck fiesta.
Party Activities
- Pinatas are a must, available through the party link at the top of the page. (The burro pinata seen in the top banner and a Sombrero pinata are both in the Fiesta Decorations section.)
- Pin the tail on the burro. How can you possibly go wrong with that?
- Salsa or other dancing is fun and good exercise, too, for working of the calories! Latin music CDs are available in our Amazon shop, if you don't already have some.
